Default This Street Rod is a hoot!!

Friday I negotiated a deal on a left over '17 SR. Rode it home, installed a Tuffside fender eliminator, modded the intake (as no one make one right now) and then proceeded to ride the tires off of it this weekend. What a hoot this thing is. Loves the backroads I bomb on. Next weekend it's a nice 6 hour ride down on N. Ky backroads.

I have a FP3 and a S&S Grand National slip-on on the way. The S&S unit is the only one that has a baffle included that actually quiets the can down.

The motor in the '17 Street Rod sounds very similar to the motor in my '06 VRSCR Street Rod. While the VRSCR can negotiate turns well enough it ain't got nothin' on the '17 SR. I'd say it's a bit more fun than the '10 XR1200.

Got the S&S Grand National slip on and FP3 installed. I also threw on a pair of SE orange plug wires to tie into the orange springs on the rear shocks. The FP3 only comes with 2 tune options for the SR. The Comp slip on with and without the standard baffle. No intake option. V&H's told me to run that canned tune for a couple tanks to see if there are any driveability issues before I run the Autotune. With the intake cover opened up and then the SE filter I will probably have to run Autotune. Although I have ridden but a very short bit with the new parts I love the way the S&S sounds. I left the quiet baffle in place. It's plenty loud with it. The throttle response is much better, it pulls harder and is smooth from idle to redline. The 1350-1400RPM idle is just too high for me. Seems Vance & Hines is still working on decoding the tables for the idle control. I was advised by Vance & Hines that this should be added to the next app update in 3-4 weeks. 1000-1100RPM is kind of the sweet spot. Can't go any lower than 900.

Congrats on the new bike...kinda similar to the former Buell XB9's. Ride-on!

Enjoy. The Street rod while same engine as the XG750 has a bit more power. One way HD got it was basically it comes factory with a close stage 1 anyway.
I have a XG750 Street and It is fun to play with.

What really helped is the different factory cam profile, 12-1 compression and larger airbox with the dual port intake. The S&S slip on and FP3 tune took it that much further. I did a couple hours worth of autotuning yesterday and flashed the changes in. Will ride today to see how they work.

The Autotune feature is working freakin' great!!!

Shot some updated pics showing the updates.

I don’t care what others think. It’s my money and this bike is loads of fun and very entertaining to ride. Besides, I have a couple other red headed step children Harley’s in the garage. I like riding something I won’t see while out on the road.
