Default Strange FP3 Re-tune Results!

About three weeks ago I was riding back home from a friends house and my Street 750 started popping through the exhaust, sort of backfiring while cruising about 45-50 mph. The next day I checked the V&H FP3 for trouble codes and there wasn't any. So I was disgusted with the bike and decided to load the factory fuel map back in and take it to the dealer and have them to check it over to see if there was a problem, but I didn't have the time to do so. Well three days ago I thought I would mess with it and put the factory a/f back in and I thought I would give it a another try. I loaded a map for the V&H Comp slip-on and K&N a/f. After doing that I took it down the road and it ran great with no popping,or backfiring under acceleration. Now I'm concerned because at cold start it doesn't idle like it did which was,I think at 1500 rpm's,and now at cold start it idles at 1200 rpm's. And after it warms up to operating temps,it idles at around 1000-1100 something rpm's instead of 1300 rpm's. Should I be concerned,or let it go and see if the idle rpm's drop lower than 1000 rpm's? My apologies if this has been asked,or covered in another post. And my numbers may be a little off.

Try running some autotune sessions. If that does not clear up your issues, contact V&H's. Explain the problems/concerns. They may have you upload your current tune to them, tweek it and send an updated tune to you.

Any help from V&H's? They did wonders to the tune I sent them. I expressed my concerns/issues. Within 30 minutes I had an updated tune and the bike is running great!

Not really. It was a back and forth for a while and basically all they told me was to ride it for a couple tanks of gas. Well I replied to the reply and told them that it has never done this before and I asked if it was some sort of updated feature and he said it was not. So this time he said that I can edit the map by modifying the startup and idle. Anyway I decided to ride it for awhile and see how it goes. If it doesn't idle no lower than 950 rpm's I'll leave it alone and ride it,besides I like the lower idle rpm's.

They haven't cracked the coding for the idle control circuit as of yet. I am wanting to lower my idle to around 1000-1100RPM. 1450RPM is just too high for me.

It does take the ECM a bit to get antiquated to a new flash. I had to be patient as well but I agree with you. Something seems amiss here.

Has this all been during 1 single tank of fuel? If so, then suspect the fuel quality.

On my APP I can go into startup and idle and then to idle rpm and change things, but I'm afraid to mess something up. Since the day I brought mine home it would idle at 1500 rpm's cold and once it warmed up it would come down to around 1300 rpm's. It is nice to have one to idle kinda of like the air cooled Harleys! Yeah V&H said as well that it would take the ECM awhile to adjust to the map. And that is my thought as well that this is the first time that my bike has idled this low. Thanks for the input modular! And NORTY FLATZ yes it's running on the same tank of fuel since I tuned my bike with this last map. But the odd thing is,I've have always ran high octane in my bike and it has never idled like it is. I do agree that it could be some bad gas.

Ahhh, I have a Street Rod. They haven't opened up the idle coding for that bike yet.

Haha, somehow I assumed that you had a Street 750. Maybe V&H will have the idle tuning options for the SR 750 soon.
