Default Upgrading Brake line?

I need to replace my front brake pads soon, and while I did so, I thought it'd be a good time to change out the stock rubber brake line for something better, namely a metal braided line. However, I'm having difficulties finding a replacement!

JP Cycles has a list of 'compatible' brake lines, but they range from 19" to 31", and I've seen other sites go up to 44"! A 1 1/2ft hose is vastly different than a 3 1/2 ft hose. Has anyone switched out their brake lines, and if so, how long was the hose?

Stock, the line to me on my 2015 Street look a little long. Maybe by an inch or two. If someone upgraded, did you also shorten the line?

Not sure about this where you are, but in the UK, some of the independent dealers will make braided stainless brake lines for you on request. I'd be very wary of shortening the line from the standard length. HD will have determined that the length of line fitted is the shortest safest length, which takes into account the full range of suspension travel both compressed and extended, plus steering lock to lock movement of the forks.

If you mean SS braided line, a word of caution-
The SS braiding, it will eat anything alive or dead if it chaffs on it.
Route it carefully and tie it dwn.

HEL doesn’t list them on their site because they don’t stock them, but they have the specs for Street 750’s and will make you one if you contact them. I ordered one and didn’t install it yet because upgrading my caliper helped so much. Plan on installing the line this summer. I believe 44” was the correct stock length.

What's wrong with the stock DOT rubber line?
