First time riding, fell in parking lot, time to repair
Hey there,
I was super stoked to ride this morning that I woke up at 5:45! I’ve passed the BRC and got my endorsement and I took the additional riding course for more time in the hot seat before hitting the open road and I was feeling super confident this morning. And then I learned how much more touchy a street 750 throttle is than the neutered street 500 I rode in the BRC and a suzuki 250.
After dusting myself off (and feeling almost relieved to have dropped the bike. It has 11 miles on it and I’ve been anxious about dropping it.) and seeing nothing was broken on myself, I checked the bike. Only has a few scrapes and shaved rubber ends, except the clutch lever snapped off. Which is a real bummer because I felt so good and ready to practice more so this doesn’t happen on the road!
I’ve found a great tutorial on replacing levers, now I’m just having trouble finding a lever. I’m leaning towards just going to the dealer and getting a stock lever since I haven’t rode the bike long enough to know what aftermarket lever I would like.
I’m wondering how much a lever usually runs and if I need to replace the whole housing. Also some tips for someone who is just starting to ride 2 wheels and has no experience other than a couple classes and riding a bicycle (that didnt even have gears!) would be hugely appreciated. I’m so excited to get out on the open road, but I’m having trouble getting there

Stick with the OEM lever as there's nothing wrong with it. The lever itself without the perch is available alone. Part # is 36700125. Be mindful of the clutch adjustment. It is finicky on the XG's. The service manual is not much help.
Keep at it. You'll be fine with more practice.
Oh, and hi Phil.
