Asking Street owners
My wife 62 years old, is taking the Harley learn to ride class. She has decided after years of 2 up riding, she wants to ride solo. She has been doing a lot of research and is really looking hard at the street. She want a good starter bike, and is not in favor of a sportster. With Harley’s offer of full base price on trade in 12 months she wants to start on the Street.
So basicly what what I want to know is what do current street riders like and,or dislike about their bike. We live in a very rural farming area where the majority of traffic is tractors or Amish horse and buggies. There will be Little highway travel while she is getting use to solo riding. We also live near to the blue ridge parkway and do a lot of riding there.
i ride an 04 ultra so she is a Harley Girl, lol.

At 62 IT CAN BE DONE, and I am not TALKING about being able to just ride it.
Good riders started cultivating their skillset way B4 10 years old.
How do YOU download your 6th sense into her head?
How do you teach her the myriad of lessons you have learned the hard way?
How do you explain driving dwn the road how to tell a car is about to do a "U" turn in front of us?
How do you do this?
How NOT to presume.
How?
How to use a block running the intersection?
How?
I would take out life insurance on her

Hello Boris,
Get the Mrs. in the wind. Be Safe and have fun. I love the XG. I have the 500 and I ride it most everyday. I ride mostly in the mountians under 70mph. 65mpg. 227 miles per tank. Over 5000 miles and going strong. Easy to turn and back up. No garage so I ride it in the front door. Wheelie it off the porch and go. Extended mirrors, Swingarm bag for the .45, luggage rack for the backpack. Added the daymaker for nightime coming home. Added the Bassani for exhaust notes. I prolly will get a bigger bike but I wont get rid of the XG. I am getting older and I love the lightness of the bike. Ride both the 500 and 750. I got the 500 just because. I can spot my little bike in a sea of SG’s. Not one regret so far. Lots of people make fun of the little Harleys but I am in the wind and smoke most of them in the canyon. I ride solo and do what I want. Try the XG’s and have fun.

I am 77 and bought a 15 750 Street which I toured on. Put 5,200 miles on it. I'm 6'3" and 210. The bike tracked exceptionally even on rough roads and strong cross winds. Good brakes and handling. I traded it in on a 17 Street Rod when they came out. Got a solid trade in price on it. They sold it within 2 weeks. The only thing that I had to do with it is add mirror extensions to see past my arms.
Started riding over 62 years ago and went through over 100 bikes of many brands and types from singles to six cylinders. I rate the Street near the top of all of them.

If the wife enrolls in * Riders Academy,* she can buy the Street 500 she'll ride during her class. This will allow immediate familiarity to control sensitivity and location. This can be important factors when learning other aspects of street riding. Have her ride the 500 for a year (or 5000+ miles.)
Then, if SHE wants, have her get a bike SHE wants. If she isn't sure what she wants, HD dealerships DO have rental fleets. Try a few out. My SO rides her own. It's awesome!
