Installed Viking Saddle bags with Internal bracket mod.
My wife wanted bags and a luggage rack and she picked out a set of Viking bags. They are inexpensive but seem good quality for the price. We installed them last night on top of the luggage rack mounting kit.
They stood out too far from the bike for her liking and she wanted to take them off. We tried a bunch of different shims, with out the rack and she was still not happy and I was getting frustrated taking them on and off and it hit me. Put the support bracket inside as it will work the same to support the lower bag. You lose a little room inside but you get a clean look. We had to instal the rack with the hardware loose but it’s safe to say the rack will not get stolen.
I think they look great and she can now haul her own gear. Viking sent the wrong size bolts but I need longer ones anyway and ACE had the M10x1.5 x100mm in stock.

I have installed Viking hard saddlebags with the same hardware. Yes, they come with the wrong bolts. I was so frustrated with their Customer Service, as they could not help with the install and hardware.
I did not use the support brackets, as they did not help with 'Support'. The bags will bounce, side to side.
I bought and install some lower support brackets from Harley Davidson (Ex: 53023-05A (Rt) and 53024-05 (Lt)). Mounted straight to the docking hardware with a fender washer on the inside. Now they are now solid and do not bounce.
