Exhaust volume on Street 750

Exhaust volume on Street 750
Hi,
Today I bought my first Harley, a street 750. On start up it sounded a lot louder than i was expecting. I knew it had a custom exhaust fitted but I didn't think it would have included increasing the overall volume of the bike. I can see my neighbours getting a bit annoyed with it in time and myself getting annoyed with it on the daily commute.
The exhaust is a Vance and Hines pipe, I'm about 95% sure it is the one pictured below. My question is, is there anyway for me to reduce the volume of it easily? If it needs a new part or a part replacing to achieve this, could anyone point me in the direction of which one I would need?
Thanks in advance.

There is a quiet insert for this slip on. AR Harley says it comes with the insert, V&H say an insert is available. However, 'quiet' is subjective, it may already have got the insert installed, in which case, that's as quiet as it gets. Check that first, then you'll know whether to buy the insert or look for a second hand OEM muffler. As it happens I have a very nice quiet OEM Street Rod muffler I can sell you for a very reasonable price!

I've just been out to have a look and it looks like the insert you've mentioned isn't in the muffler so it's running without one. I quickly downloaded an app to measure the decibels it was producing and it came out at around 88db (not sure how accurate the app is though). Do you have any idea how much the "quiet" insert will reduce this by and will it have any other adverse effects on the bike?
Thanks

There will be no adverse effects to fitting an insert. I would guess the V&H one will be around the £40 - 50 mark. That's a guess by the way, based on the price of the quiet baffles I bought for a different set of V&H mufflers. You can do as Ben221 suggests or order the OE one. No idea how quiet it will make it.

Hi Mike,
the insert will give you about 3db reduction - not too much.
that muffler is a very good one, so you could easily get £200 for it on ebay and then buy a 2nd hand original muffler for £80 ish.
me personally, i would keep it as it is -its a harley and is supposed to sound like that 😀
good luck in your choice.
