I ended up going to the dealer and asking them. Oil was a little low(lower hash marks). They told me top off the oil and that should reduce the excessive noise. But did say the engine design does allow for certain amount of engine noise. Topped it off and let it cool down. Noticeable reduction in engine noise. We’ll find out this morning when the engine is completely cold.

 

Couple of thoughts here, the lifters are bleeding down a little and pump on start. Another thought, stiction from cold oil causing the rocker arm shaft to rock back and forth hitting the bolts securing the rocker support. I guess in a way it is HD engineering at its finest.

 

Yea it's lack of oil somewhere up in the top man.

 

Couple things....

Try Spectro 25-60 dino oil. In general dino oil is always quieter than syn. Worst I've tried WHEN IT COMES TO NOISE is Mobil 1 V-twin.
