Best M8 description I have seen
Good video on the m8 engine. The part I want to draw attention to starts at 8 minutes elapsed time. They describe why Harley went to the twin cam motor. Since Harley has gone back to a single cam, that makes the twin cam the odd engine. It is the only dual cam engine that Harley has made and probably will ever make. Is that going to mean anything in 100 years? According to the video, Harley went to the dual cam because they wanted to reduce the angle of the push rods so they could have higher lift cams, without having the push rods pushing at an extreme angle.

Just a thought...is it possible that the little "valve" they use to separate the oil from the air isn't up to the task of keeping up with higher volume of air that needs to be evacuated on the bigger bored out motors that then get run a little harder than a stock motor would? I guess what I'm saying is it possible that it could be a factor in motors that sump? It just seemed like a lot of turns and tunnels and restrictions. He said harley engineers tested it to the extreme but we've all seen the results of their "million miles of testing". On drag bikes they have pumps for the purpose of taking this pumped air out of the motor. Not saying the m8 needs a pump but maybe that filter can't keep up and then the cases become pressurized and then it sumps. You heard it here first lol.
