Speed bumps are one the worst ideas ever. Even without accidents like this they reek havoc on suspensions. Always thought I oughta be able to send a bill to the government for my suspension needs.

 

Years ago after the 50 took a friend to jail I was taking his bike to his home. He had 12" apes on it with loose clamps ,speed bump put handle bars down around top of tire. S--T

 

Dang, His head really smashed into the asphalt.

 

That is one heck of a speed bump. Looked more like a speed ramp.

I almost feel like that is going to happen to me on my sporty. As you know they only have about 1.5" inches of harsh travel. Pretty much equivalent to most mountain bikes sold at Walmart. I've hit a few bumps on the freeway at 80 and got close wrecking and my *** has launched off the seat.

That vid makes me re-think my no helmet policy....

 

They call those Topes. Read any Ride Report over on ADV and you'll hear how you really have to watch out for them when travelling down there. You'de think a cop would know better.
