Thanks. The monopod pole retracts, so when I'm on main roads I would just retract it in - I was filming in an industrial part of downtown LA so there wasn't much traffic. And I stayed towards the middle of the road to avoid clipping any signs

Monopod is from BestBuy - it's the house brand Dynex, so it's the cheapest one. I think it was $35. As for mounting, I wrap the section that lays across the rear fender in a microfiber cloth to prevent scratching, then I used the extra strong/thick/wide 3M velcro straps used to bundle cables and wires and torque it down to the sissy bar in a few places. It is surprisingly strong, and the 3M velcro isn't going anywhere.

I was working on a little project this weekend. I got a monopod camera mount for my gopro and attached it to my sissy bar so it was up several feet looking down at me. I did a short ride around my neighborhood to see how it worked. It vibrates a lot at idle, but smooths out at speed. It shakes a lot on bumps, so I'm going to try and cushion it a bit more. I think it's a cool looking angle though. Attached is a picture of how it looks with the mount on (people looked at me like I was crazy) and here is a link to the video test.
I really like this idea, I think the point of view for the camera is just superb.
I normally use helmet mount, but think the petspective you have with this idea would let viewers see both the rider and pillion having fun!
I was wondering if there is a high enough sissy bar for a Softail Heritage Classic that would allow the camera to be clamped directly to the top of the bar?
