2003 Sportster XLH883 Starting Issue
Hey all, new to the forum here but been lurking for quite a while, there's a lot of knowledge floating around and I'm hoping someone can help me out with issue that's been graying my hair for the past couple of months..
I have a carborated 2003 Sportster XLH883, Velociraptor air cleaner kit, stock CV carb, and 2" drag pipes with small baffles that's been giving me problems when trying to restart it after a ride. She starts fine when cold, restarts fine when hot if it's within a minute or two of shutting down, however when I try to start her up after sitting for 7 to 10 minutes it really gives me hell... If I rock it around a bit while hitting the ignition switch it'll generally start after a considerable amount of popping at the carb and backfiring out of the pipes, it also seems to start fine with a jump every time.
I gave her a brand new battery, new coils, checked all the connections, checked continuity, checked voltage at various points (i.e. at the battery when off, when running, to and from the coils, voltage regulator, etc.), new NGK spark plugs, hot/cold tested the Ignition Module with no results, cleaned and rebuilt the carb, tuned the carb, everything seems to check out fine yet the problem persists.. I'm stumped and getting to my wits end. Anyone have any thoughts on the matter?
