Tmap sensor o-ring

Did a major upgrade on my 09 Electra Glide this winter. In the process of reassembly and was installing the tmap sensor in the top of the throttle body. It seems to fit kind of loose and the o-ring looks flat. Tried to purchase just the o-ring at the dealership and they say you have to replace the whole sensor for $95. Anyone ever just replace the oring. Looks like a viton o-ring. I'm sure I could find one.

No reason you couldn't measure the existing oring and replace it with an auto parts store oring.
There is nothing for it to do but seal the air at the sensor. No pressure or liquid exposure to test the strength of the oring.

Well, I would tend to agree with you. But the existing o-ring was a viton one and it is as hard as plastic and flattened. Viton usually holds up well in a fuel, oil, and hot environment. For this one to deteriorate as it did, I would think a standard nitrile or other form of material wouldn't fair as well causing a vacuum leak. Parts stores have a little variety pack if viton ones but not the size I need. The local bearing distributor is my next stop. They have an assortment of viton. Thanks for the reply. Mike
