New Tune - Pinging/knock?
Hey
modified my tune with a slightly richer AFR (moved from 14.6 to 13.8 and progressively to 12.5 at the extremes) in my PV.
Did an auto tune yesterday, which meant a lot of high sustained RPMs.
When I took her for a second ride, i noticed it sounded like the valve train was noiser than normal. Seems to ride fine..
I took a video, but a guy here said it sounded like ping or detonation - Curious as to your opinions
Figured making the AFR richer would do the opposite.
What say you, 'normal' valve noise, excess noise, or ping / knock / detonation

Sounds like top end ticking to me.... pinging typically only happens under load.
Did you try putting the previous tune back in?

When you richen the Air Fuel Ratio it also increases the speed of the flame front, that may need less ignition timing.
When you auto Tune with a Power Vision it pulls 4 degrees of timing throughout the spark tables for safety at high loads
https://www.innovatemotorsports.com/resources/myths.php
The spark plug ignites the mixture and the fire starts burning. The speed of this flame front depends on the mixture,
this means how many air and fuel molecules are packed together in the combustion chamber.
The closer they are packed together in the same volume, the easier it is for the fire to jump from one set of molecules to the other.
The burning speed is also dependent on the air-fuel-ratio.
At about 12.5 to 13 air-fuel-ratio the mixture burns fastest.
A leaner mixture than 12.5 to 13 burns slower.
A richer mixture than 12.5 to 13 also burns slower.
That's why the maximum power mixture is at the fastest burn speed.

That sounds like valve train noise to me. As stated above, pinging typically happens under load and in my experience lacks the rhythmic regularity that I hear in your recording. Was the engine hot when you made this recording? If so, let it cool to room temp first, and take if for another spin, and see how it does. My top end ticks when hot, and I intend to tighten up the lash to about .140" to see if that resolves it.
