Default Ignition switch

Hey all so I performed installing 14 inch apes on my bike and wasn't sure if I took the ignition out in the lock position or not.. finally go to put all back together and cannot get my switch into place.. seems like the switch isn't lining up.. I tried using a screwdriver to realign everything in cylinder but it doesn't want to drop in.. if I hold it down it will switch thru the accessory on off and lock mode and I can get lights and everything to come on... any help? Also not sure if it was due to a pinched wire or not but no power in left controls.. maybe I pinched a wire idk.. stumped

What year & model is your bike? On my 02 Fatboy there is lots of room to drop the ignition switch into the console. Guess I don't understand your problem. Maybe you show us a picture!

"Guessing" you have a touring bike...if you look down into the ignition assy socket w/flashlight get a visual of what's going on in there. All it takes is a little time/patience to get everything realigned. Most make their own alignment tool from small section of copper tubing (flatten out), which makes the job easier...along w/service manual.

For your Left control issue, best to dis-assemble and check over everything for pinched wire(s), bad connections, pin settings, etc...pretty much everything electric.

My o6 e glide is a pain, there are two separate spring loaded notches to get through, handlebar lock and ignition. I made my own special tool and keep it with me always, cause early on the switch meltdown 300 miles from home.

Nailed it, had to walk away last night after ape install so this morning I used the copper and smushed it and was able to easily slide it in, lock the ignition and drop the ignition in perfectly! As for my left control not working I ended up removing the bars and their was a destroyed connection from the aftermarket harness! Thanks all!!
