Default Fuel Pump and ECM

Have an 04 Electra Glide F/I in my shop. It ran one day and next it wouldn't crank. Spin but no start. The guy before me replaced the ECM with a used one , no luck. I checked the CPK no resistance, put a new one on. It fired up for about 3 seconds shut off but could fire right back up again. I pulled the fuel pump found pin hole in pressure hose from pump to tank fitting, replaced it. Now it runs for about 10 seconds and cuts off. It displays no codes at all. I know the old ECM is Bad because it wont even let the bike turn over. My question is, does an ECM have to be programmed going from one bike to the next? I'm pulling the fuel pump back out this evening to ck for any other leaks, the pump assy was replaced about a year ago. I feel it's fuel related or either the ecm is not telling it to continue after it starts up. Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks Stumped.

Not sure how much help I can be, but here goes. At the end of last year I had to replace my ECM due to a dead short that fried the old one. I read a lot of horror stories about using second hand ECMs so decided to go with a new one. I installed the new ECM myself but had to trailer the bike about 50 kms to the dealer because they need to set it up with 'digital technician' Copy and reflash the map, transfer odometer reading etc etc. I was told only HD dealers can do this. So 15 minutes and $1200 dollars later the bike was like brand new. Hopefully this gives you some insight without scaring you too much. That cost was for a new ecm, new tuner (mine was married to the old ecm) and labour. Also factor in the pathetically weak Aussie dollar!!
Good luck brother, I hope you get it sorted out soon!

Give this a shot, it may only need password learn. Follow it to the T any errors an it will not work. Done this quite aa few times changing ecms from one bike to another.
