I have a 99 flhtcui and am having an issue. currently my manual is 1050 miles away from me. I too off on the bike and went 1 mile and it just died. Came back an hour later and it started right up drove 3 blocks and it died again. noticed battery was low and replaced. Alt is changing bike started right up rode 3 miles and died let it set 1 hour and started right up rode back and parked it. My thought is a heat related issue Bike has 41,000 on it. I am thinking coils breaking down under heat? any thoughts out there?

 

When the bike quits do the lights go out as well? How bout a bit of description of mods done. Also what was the last thing done to the bike?
Pretty hard to diagnose on the forum, even with good descriptions and without info it's just a WAG.

Mods= screaming eagle cams, big bore kit to 96ci, Rinehart dual exh, I am 3rd owner. 1st owner did mods. 6000 miles ago had new oil pump,cam brgs, replaced the cam chain adjusters. These are the the only mods and know of

 

I have no loss of power any where on the bike. Lights stay on, everything on the bike stays powered up. When you turn on the key the fuel pump cycles on for the 3 seconds as should.

 

Since the bike has to run for a while to have it fail I would try replacing the crank sensor as they are prone to slowly dying causing failure when heated up.
