2014 Sportster iron 883 SESTP super tuner pro race tuner ECM remap/tuning

Default 2014 Sportster iron 883 SESTP super tuner pro race tuner ECM remap/tuning

Hi Guys,

I will install these pipes & air cleaners to my 2014 sportster iron and tune the ECM using SESTP.

Pipes: (2)
1. VH Shortshots
2. VH grenade

Air cleaners: (3)
1. D&M spike
2. Ebay number 152538354751
3. Ebay number 302321343786

Combination of pipes and cleaners to install:
1. Shortshots and stock air cleaner: reflash ECM
2. Shortshots and aftermarket air cleaner: reflash
3. Grenade and D&M spike air cleaner: reflash

I have viewed the SESTP tutorial videos and know most of what to be done. I will let the software (smart tune) to automatically tune the ECM.

I need all the help I can get as this is the first time I will reflash/remap a ECM.

I am looking for these information to update the super tuner software.
Injector size?
What is the RPM limit?
Is knock control enabled?
Is EITMS on?
Is active exhaust on?
Is active intake on?
Is ACR on?

Appreciate all your help in advance.

The Stage 1 SE Pro Super Tuner tune for the 883 shows Air Cleaner and pipes-
Application: 2014-2016 Sportster

Configuration: XL 883 Stage 1

Components:
- SE Air Cleaner
- SE Exhaust

Injector size?
3.86 gm/sec, you can change it by 0.04, 0.18 or 0.35 gm/sec (or multiples of those numbers)

What is the RPM limit?
The Stage 1 883 Tune in the Pro Super Tuner is set to 7000 rpms, it is changeable.

Is knock control enabled?
It should be the same as the stock tune, it isn't an option I see in the software. I believe it is "enabled" but not active until like 462F engine temp.
Is EITMS on?
I believe it will be but I do not see an option to change it in the Pro Super Tuner Software.

Is active exhaust on?
I do not believe the active exhaust is a Sportster option, maybe International models????

Is active intake on?
I believe that would only apply the XR model Sportsters. I do not see an option in the Pro Super Tuner software for it. ( the option does not show as changeable in the 2010 XR1200X race tune, that tune will NOT work on a 2014 + Sportster the software level is different)

Is ACR on?
I do not believe that is an option for Sportsters. I do not see an option for it in the Pro Super Tuner software.

Do you already have the SE Pro Super Tuner?
Not the SE Pro Street Tuner.
HD can not sell SE Pro Super Tuner in the US any more.

Have you downloaded the Pro Super Tuner Software?
You can download the software and look through the tunes without the hardware. Use a VIN of all 1s, 1111111111 to download it here:

The SE Pro Super Tuner software will not work with the SE Pro Street Tuner.

E.g. It is 4.04 gm/sec if multiples of 0.18 is selected correct?
How do I know what is the correct gm/sec to enter?

What is the RPM limit?

The owners manual indicated 6000 as the safe RPM limit. Will set it to that.

Do you already have the SE Pro Super Tuner?
Yes I do (part number 32109-08C) and should connect it to the bike soon.

Have you downloaded the Pro Super Tuner Software?
Yes, I have downloaded the software but I have not installed it on a laptop and this will happen soon.

I thought the tutorial said the super tuner software will detect the settings (injector size, RPM limit & etc) from the ECM and I should update it if its different with the correct values. I will see later what it picks up. The RPM limit should already be set in the ECM.

The HD tunes in the software for the Sportsters will have the injector size already set to 3.86 gm/sec. Both the 883 and 1200 engines use the same injectors.

It looks like you are planning to make three different tunes-

Combination of pipes and cleaners to install:
1. Shortshots and stock air cleaner: reflash ECM
2. Shortshots and aftermarket air cleaner: reflash
3. Grenade and D&M spike air cleaner: reflash


I would start with the HD Stage 1 tune for each of your setups and then run Smart Tune for each setup and save each tune as a new tune.

Okay noted. I take it you are suggesting to leave it at that value.

Yes 3 tunes but I might not do the first one if there is no base calibration that utilizes the stock air cleaner.

If I am not mistaken, the simplest base calibration is the SE stage 1 you mentioned above and it utilizes new pipes and air cleaner, not only new pipes.


I would start with the HD Stage 1 tune for each of your setups and then run Smart Tune for each setup and save each tune as a new tune

start with the stage one tune for each map.
set rpm limit to 6500 rpm, more is not needed for the street
sportster does not use ACR, EITMS, or knock control so all these should be toggled off, no active exhaust or intake either for US spec bike. need to check for your region.
using those settings make your tunes and enjoy, remember to save your work.

He will not even see the options for ACR, EITMS (it is enabled on 2007-2013 Sportsters), or Spark Knock with the SE Pro Super Tuner software with a Sportster tune.

Start with the appropriate calibration for your stage1 bike.
Then do SmartTuning until suggested changes are within 5-8%. Then ride and enjoy.

Thank you for the reply and noted on your comments.

FYI
This is stated in the owners manual.
The maximum recommended safe engine speed is 6000 rpm. So, maybe it's better to leave it at that.

I noticed there is a wire going into the rear head top. Is this for ACR?

My bike was built and shipped from US as a new bike. It is not a used bike from US. There are few differences from the US spec bike such as license plate, turn signal lights and Speedo meter. Everything else looks the same.
