So far this year I have averaged just over 52 mpg on my 2013 XL 1200C.

Thanks for the responses guys!

Sorry been long though, been away. Ok It's a motosport efi tuner. I dialled down the mid fuel to rpm on the micro tuner just a fraction and gained an extra 5 miles.

The bike has been tuned to the current pipes and air breather.

Today I filled up on 87 mile marker ( light came on at 85) and it took 1.03 gal fuel to fill her up.
As a new rider I never checked how much gallons of fuel I put in in till now, usually i fill till it cuts out and pay, but looking at this I have over a gallon left ?

So it seems to be that the light comes on when I'm half way through the tank? I guess I'll ignore the light for another 40 miles or so.

Seems very strange for the light to come on so early when I had over a gallon left, bearing in mind I have a 3.3 gal tank.

It took 1.3 gallons to fill up and the tank holds 3.3. Even I can figure out that you have 2 gallons remaining. If you say you put 87 miles on the bike and it only took 1.3 gallons, it just doesn’t add up. That’s 67 miles per gallon! That’s not happening. Be consistent when you fill up- don’t just until the nozzle cuts off. Pay attention to how deep you insert the nozzle. Fill it to the rim every time and then check the mileage.. these are very simple calculations—- it’s not rocket science!!! Jeez
