Default 2006 FLTRI 2k RPM when exiting freeway

Have a strange problem: bike stays at 2k RPM's when exiting freeway (most times, but not every time). Cracking the throttle doesn't bring it down, although it comes down on it's own after about 1 minute. No intake leak, throttle/idle cables seem to be in proper mechanical adjustment and are lubed, idle stop returns to rest every time, but I can't get the expected result using the service manual with my ohm meter on the idle cable. V&H fuelpack settings are all correct, cruise control functions properly, but problem happens even with cruise switch off. If that's not bad enough, I'm getting an intermittent hesitation at speed, almost like it may die, but never has. I'm the original owner and the bike is very well cared for with only 30k miles on it.

Yeah, it's a longshot, but any suggestions will be appreciated.

Search around here for cleaning the IAC. It's likely sticking.

There are no diagnostic trouble codes stored for any of the modules.
Max, I'm not seeing anything on IAC, either here or in the service manual. There is an IAT sensor, is that what you're referring to?

Searching for sticky IAC is better, where are some.. IAC = idle air control Should be on page 9-25 of FSM Item 4

No limp mode on bikes with throttle cables.

I agree on the IAC. Can also check for a loose throttle plate.

Thanks for all the input so far. I'll probably not get to put a wrench on this till the weekend. To help me be more prepared: I assume the IAC can be viewed with a flashlight (air filter removed), correct? I've read that you should stuff a (clean) rag into the throttle body, and spray the IAC with carb cleaner, while cycling the ignition (handlebar switch off), is that correct? Sorry, but I'm not a Fuel Injection guy. Just wish the friggin' thing had a carb.
