turning off oxygen sensors

turning off oxygen sensors
so i called vance and hines yesterday to get a map for my ultra classic which i had swapped out the stock head pipe with a decatted pipe. they told me i needed to turn off the oxygen sensors to get it to run properly. my question is what else will turning the sensors off affect? bike is a 2014 purchased new in 2015, still covered under extended warranty. everything else drivetrain related is the way it was shipped from the factory other than the breather bypass. what options do i have other than turning off the sensors or buying an expensive header?

Basically, the O2 sensors are what tells the computer if it is squirting in the right amount of fuel so that it can automatically adjust itself to take into account things like altitude, environmental conditions and a dodgy tank of fuel etc
Electronic (computer controlled) Fuel Injection
No sensors no feedback, bike runs as well (or otherwise) as the tune that is programmed into it ...and you have an FP3 (which should be able to disable closed-loop if I recall?? ...but they could have sent you a map with that done for you)
Did they give you any other advice? or say why maybe? like the sensors are in a bad location on those headers or something?

If you don’t know how to deal with this tuning issue it is best to eliminate the feature so things don’t change unexpectedly.
OR
The best resolve IMO, is to take it to a qualified, experienced tuner who will retain the o2 sensors and not let them affect the tune negatively.
But then again, I’m a tuner

the person i spoke to at vance and hines said the sensors were too close to each other without the catalyst, not sure why the reverse is not true but again im not a expert on these things. he also said they could send me a tune that cancels them out, my concern is will i damage anything by not having them “in the loop” so to speak. that is my only concern right now.

when I had my 32 valve cobra I had an off road H pipe without cats for it.....some of the guys that used that pipe would space the 02 sensors after the cat out away from the cat so it would get a different reading than the front to "trick" the computer. not sure if it would do anything or not, that was a 1997 efi system, the new ones may not be effected by it.
