Since I haven't been able to find someone who has the ECM timing maps from a Stage One MoCo flash, I began wondering if there is any way to extract that data from my ECM.

My PCIii let's me adjust spark timing, but I'd sure like to know what I'm adjusting from. Once I get this back from my tuner after break-in, I'd like to know what my actual timing is.

Damn Ed, didn't know anyone else still had those. Seems like for ever ago we did those.

 

Now if only the PCIII was designed to adjust timing at the same throttle position & RPM points as the native ECM tables, then my quest for certainty would be closer to fulfillment, but noooooo.

The more I learn, the more I dislike piggyback systems.

 

have you promoted you igntion tables to advanced, IIRC when everything is set up right you can get to make an adjustment every 250 rpm. I'll double check that here in a sec.

yep, maximize your map resolution and you get 250 rpm increments to work with.

Thanks Marco, my map is Advanced and at full resolution.

The ECM natively has 17 throttle positions in its map, and the PCIII offers 10, none of which correspond. Oh well, it is what it is.

Ya I dislike the fact there is no 50% too, seams it could be broken down to every 10%

 

That's always been the issue with any piggyback! The more you learn, the less you find out it really does. Your only altering the system in one condition, what I mean is if you remove 5 degree's its gone, cold to hot and everywhere in-between, when the ECM is changing the timing for all those various conditions, so its never the same cold as it is luke-warm or Hot.

One other thing to be careful with on a MM ECU system is the Throttle table for spark and fuel is in degree's rotation NOT Throttle Percent as the DJ unit is. That is why you only see close to 90 dergree shown in Ed's table.
