Default Tuning questions

I have a Screaming Eagle Intake and Vance and Hines exaust on my 2011 xl1200 nightster. I finally decided to get it tuned. It seems like everywhere I go wants to sell me a expensive tuning kit. Is there no way to tune it with the stock tech? I've had cars tuned in the past but I dont remember having to buy a kit.

If it runs decent now (presuming you may be a new rider) , I'd change all fluid , clean & oil air filter & gold H-D plugs (not the SE plugs) , and ask around here about caned tunes and a stage 1 down load , Lots of good info around here from people with your model

there is no way to tune it without buying an additional device or system. Flash tuning is the most modern method, TTS Mastertune and Powervision are the top dogs in this arena. the HD tuner is EPA limited, so i don't suggest that route. To get the most from these products, it is recommended to get the bike tuned at a professional dyno tuning shop with a good track record. I know it costs, but it is worth it in the end, especially if you dont have the knowledge or tools to do it yourself. And believe me it takes a lot of both.
There are a lot of products with Auto-Tune features, but again, it takes time and knowledge and if you don't have enough of both, it gets frustrating. Do a little homework on the shops in your area and find one with a good rep that makes you feel good when you talk to them and take it in and have it done. You dont mention what VH system you have, but you still need to have it done.
