My sons 48 won’t start, it turns over fine. We checked the gap on the plugs, I was told to set them at .40 , it has spark. The plugs were dry when I pulled them out. I didn’t have any either so I used a little break clean and sprayed a little in the air intake and she fired. The fuel pump sounds like it turns on. Is there anyway to test the pump? Anyone have any other ideas on why she won’t start. Thanks in advance.

 

well, you got it half done, good troubleshooting!
when you are dealing with fuel injection, a good tool to have is a noid. the noid will tell you if the ecu is pulsing the injector. if it is, then you need to look at the fuel pressure, just because the pump runs does not mean it is pumping.
there are stories where the fuel line in the tank leaks, then there is the pressure regulator. the pump is easy enough to remove and be bench tested, you do not need to run gasoline as the test media, too dangerous. i would have to look at the fsm but off hand, i do not think there is a test port on the throttle body.

What is a noid?

 

fuel pressure guage hooks up inline between tank fittings, and should be your first test.
a noid light is a test tool that plugs into the injector harness and fashes when it gets the firing pulse.

Has the fuel tank or fuel line disconnected from the tank? Very common to get that connection wrong creating fuel pump that runs but flow never gets to the engine.

When did it last run okay?
No trouble code lights displayed in speedo?

 

Tank is full.
It ran good a couple days before it wouldn’t start.
trouble code? Where would I see that? He bought the bike used and n owners manual.

 

Check the fuel line -- there's a check ball in there and sometimes it gets jammed and prevents fuel flow
