I was going to ask what is the fuel ratio and MAP
in those cells that your getting knock retard..? What feedback are you getting in your data log..

Personally, with all the blue dots being one to two degrees not retard and the tan two to three degrees I would knock your whole timing table down at least 1° across the board and go from there..

Can you post up your timing tables? And what exactly do you have in your build..

The MAP (kPa) is given on the x-axis of the graph. RPM is on the y-axis. Each dot represents a spark knock retard event and the color of each dot indicates the degrees of spark knock retard.

This is just a Stage 1 as shown in my signature: SE Heavy Breather air cleaner and Cobra Neighbor Hater mufflers.

The set lambda is 0.982. I only have narrowband O2 sensors, so I'm not even sure I can tell you the actual AFR at these points. I believe the logs have front and rear O2 sensor volts, but I don't know what that corresponds to in lambda or AFR.

I still need to figure out the adaptive knock retard, what it is and how it's affecting my spark knock retard events.

I'll post the other specifics tonight when I get home.

.982 Lambda=14.435 AFR for Gasoline. Stock narrow band is supposed to read 14.3-14.9 so if you change all of your closed loop settings to .973 Lambda it will give you a little more fuel in closed loop to 14.3. The rest of your tune will be open loop where the ECM will try to adjust (calculate) the fuel ratio based on what your table is set to with out feed back from the O2 sensor.. The only feeds back you would have at that time is the spark plugs which once your familiar with how to read will give you a lot of good information..

Why would I want more fuel?

Because a lean condition will assist in detonation which your ion sensing knock retard system is obviously detecting.. It all could be too much timing but because of EPA fuel management it's notoriously lean.. Also what spark plugs are you running..

One of the TTS tuning guides has a table that shows O2 voltages to lambda/afr or you can google it, look at the VE tables where this is happening and see how the cells around that point compare to the value in the cell where it's happening

I do not have ion sensing in my M8. It’s a knock sensor. Regardless, I understand your reasoning behind it.

Again, this is a Fuel Moto tune, which is richer than stock. I’ll need to compare timing tables between stock and FM tunes.

I keep hearing about these TTS guides but I downloaded all the software and manuals, and I don’t see any of the guides people talk about.

I have a few minor peaks in the VE where I cruise in 5th and 6th gear. But I’m getting spark knock retard events all over the map.
