2006 SE throttle body on 2005 Softail. Help 👏🏻🤣

The story of “Gertrude”. To be told one day.

The name I’ve given my bike. Long story lol. I built a 95” for it with CP pistons. 10.5:1 compression. Stock Crank balanced with TIMKEN main bearing upgrade conversion. Newly installed & welded crank pin. S&S 585 easy start cams, SE plate. SE lifters & quick adjust pushrods. SE high flow oil pump. 2006 up SE high perf heads. Heads Also “tuned up” by a pretty talented fella in Central Alberta.

Has anyone tackled this project and have any tips?

Switching to the new style 50mm SE TB model from the stock 44mm TB (40mm due to restrictor internally I was told?), requires a set of adaptor plugs and a relatively straight forward set of wiring instruction I got from Pete @zippersperformance. (Attached ad pdf to this post) I guess the task of magnifying glasses and my relatively limited electrical experience has gotten me a bit nervous on tackling it. The final task I need to fulfill to finally hear her come back to live after a much longer down time that anticipated due to the financial constraints of a dad of 3 kids.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hi there. This is straight forward, the instructions are very clear. Take your time, do one connector, take a break then do another , take a break, and so on until allure done. Just recheck everything so the letters match the colts, before you start the engine. Have confidence in yourself, you can do it. Fo reassurance, send a pic of the connectors when you are done and ill confirm its good, two 4 eyes better than two lol

Thanks Paul

Got my fuel tank removed to get good access at everything and decided to remove the intake & TB for good measure. Found a leaky welded fitting on the oil tank. Ugh so off came a bunch more stuff but oh well. I decided to dive right in. Quadruple checked my work but it went smoothly and no surprises. Straight forward as I figured but I guess I just had to get out of my own head. Felt good at the end and now I go get some new fittings and fire up the tig welder and get that done again without any booboos this time.

The 2006+ that came in the adapter. Made me nervous to start cutting stuff like that but it turns out it wasn’t all that bad and I am confident it’s solid. Big task out of the way.

50mm Screamin’ Eagle upgrade I picked up for $150. HUGE upgrade for a few bucks. Stoked.

Had to remove the oil tank after finding a leak and it required a bunch of stuff coming off to do so.
