I put a Cobra FI2000R in my HD '06 Road King Classic. I also have Samson 29" Silver Bullet Slasher slip-ons and a KN-1499 Air filter. I wanted simplicity when I bought the FI2000R. That's what I got and it works great. No confusing re-mapping issues. Plug and play! Now that's what I'm talkn' about.

 

I do have to say they work good for simple mods. But they only work after 1200 rpm so keep that in mind. So if you sit in any traffic the bike will run lean.At stock.

Would you know if that’s true for the newer models ('08 specifically)?

Among other units, Cobra is one that I'm considering. The installation instructions (and talks with a Cobra rep) state the units are adjustable in the idle mode (1000 RPM).

Just received my Cobra in the mail and found out that they offer 2 styles. I have the one that gives full control where you disconnect the o2 censors and have control at idle also. The other one offered leaves the o2's in place and you only have mid range and wide open adjustments. If you modify with cams and such the full control would probably be your best bet. I'm looking forward to checking it out. Good luck
