The USB cable ( that looks like a printer cable) is, the other cable ( the one with either 4 pins or 6) would be, but only if they have the same # of pins.

Ok thanks. That answers my questions. I'll confirm the pin count on both my bikes to determine if they are the same or different.

Default Primary Gear Ratio Constants Question(s)

Since the ECM needs to know the engine RPM, does changing the ratio in the constants require retuning?
Reason I ask is I found that it is set wrong.
Is it a simple matter of just changing it or does it require retuning?
Right now it is set at 1.352, actual is 1.440

Thanks

I would think not, when I installed a 49 tooth and changed the primary ratio all was fine. Actually the tuner helped me do it several years ago.

Thanks for the reply.
Think I will run a few Vtune data gatherings just to verify.
I am chasing an idle issue and just happen to catch that setting.
Means it got past the tuner a few years ago too. So I don't know how big a deal it is.
Maybe it is just for the gear indicator for the guys that have it. I know it is not active on earlier cals. I just want to be sure it is not used in any fuel calculations since the ECM does use rpm in them as far as I know. There is a difference of about 6% between what is there and actual. I will keep an eye on it. Going to boot in the cal with the actual today. Thank you.

There is another way to adjust the actual road speed on the dyno I think, but the method escapes me at the moment. That may be why your primary ratio was wrong yet your actual road speed might be correct. I'm not a tuner but have had several pro tunes but anyway good luck.

I will check the speedo against my GPS. That should be good. If I see anything n the fueling, I will set it back to the 1.352. I am going to go back thru my tune files and see where it changed. I think it changed when I did the O2 install and had to go with a 176 cal. Hard to keep track of all this stuff and its just one bike!

The speed on the Speedo matches the GPS perfectly at the 1.440 setting. Don't know how it was with the 1.352 setting because I never paid it much mind. Not seeing any fueling differences. Just some slight VE changes here and there which could be due to weather, day's riding style, etc. Nothing major. One thing I have noticed is slight changes will occur day to day and that make perfect sense to me. Thanks for the response on the question.

Back to the idle.

Isn't the speed set when you flash a calibration? It's an option pop up when you flash... Never heard of the ratio messing with the speedo calibration.

However the ratio does effect the cruise control and 6th gear light

I can confirm that the ratio set under constants will change the speedo reading
I had to change mine when i went to the 32 tooth comp
But then again I had to change it for the Cruise and 6th gear light to work. and still made the change for speedo vs GPS in the window wiz is referring to
