I tried but can't find it in the TTS manual. How would I set up datamaster to find a knock event in a recording?

Quick answer

See the box on the right hand bottom of datamaster? (engine speed and MAP.....)

Double click on any setting and change it to Knock Retard front and another to back.

It will show you knock if you have one.

It is best to get rid of everything else but Knock so it is easy to see.

Thanks! I guess I did have it right but it is only reading zero so i thought I did something wrong. Then in a few spots at higher rpm it is reading a max of -1. is that normal?

Try not to take this as me be cryptic.... but each bike has it's own normal.

What's right for your motor may not be right for each motor this is another reason why the TTS software was written to be easy yet so smart. Let the software do it's thing and lead you. Do not over think things.

If a max of -1 is normal for you motor then it is normal.

Remember... TTS will only decrease timing. It will not increase when VTuning. So if you want to increase your timing a few degrees before VTuning then do so and the TTS software will make corrections.

Always tune with fresh plugs, gas and a clean air filter. For getting high load areas take a friend for extra weight.

That makes sense. I am just getting an occasional noise at idle and I can't figure out why it's doing it. I am trying my best but I can't tell if there is anything that needs addressing from a generic 02 reading.

Thanks for the advice.

I converted the last file that I uploaded to the ECM years ago and attempted to upload it to the ECM today and got the same error message as before, then I tried to upload the latest CAE176 MT8 to the ECM and got the same error.

I was able the download the installed ETM file, but when I attempt to open it I get a message that the file type is unsupported.

I'm thinking of uninstalling everything and starting fresh - do you think this might help?

Just run the software updater (it will take a little while) then when that's done run the firmware updater and you will be good to go. There are updates to teh software often as Steve and the guys at TTS are constantly updating and improving it.

It is after doing just that (software and firmware updates) that I'm encountering these problems.
