Default How to convert mechanical speedometer to electronic?

99 Ultra has speedometer with cable, how to convert it to electrical one w/o cable?
Later models probably have speed sensor. Is it hooked up to transmission?
Thanks.

Yes it is. Look for a little plate with an allen screw holding it on the trans case. You may not have one.

Yes. There is a rear wheel sensor that's for programmable VDO electronic speedometers. It clamps to the left axle spacer and uses the pulley bolts as the puse provider. $89.00 in C.C.I catalog that your local indy shop should be able to order.

I worked with http://www.cmacable.com through the entire process of modifying my ATV. They have A+ customer service and an excellent line of cable and restraints. If you are looking for Mechanical Cables cma is the way to go!

Car5....you will have to get an electronic unit (speedo) to go in that hole that will be compatible with the sensor Steve is talking about. The electronic sensor only sends information to the speedo and it won't work with your mechanical unit.
