my 2003 screaming eagle roadking pops on letoff , i have installed new plugs changed coil and plugs and think it is running rich.
are there other causes for this poping or crackeling?

Exhaust leak is a possibility. What color where the plugs when you changed them?

 

Is it carb or EFI, and have you changed exhaust/air or stock?

 

The bike is new to me and the plugs where new when i changed them agin, although i just put the v plugs in it and it did help some and borrowed a buddys af tester and it was at 13.4, I think i need to check it riding throughout the rpm range now.

I have an 03 EG with EFI and a Power Commander III. My experience has been that the popping is due to a lean condition on the zero degree throttle position. If you're running a PCIII, you could try increasing the values in the zero column in the lower RPMs say 5 increments and see if it helps the popping. If you're not running a PCIII and havew not made any exhaust or air intake changes, I'd vote for checking for an exhaust leak. Just my 2 cents worth....

 

Because the engine is still turning in gear when you let off throttle, it is pulling in a lot of air. But now you have stopped fuel flow be backing off throttle, so it creates a instant lean condition. Lean makes it pop.

 

2000 Rg 95 cc pop like corn It had intake leak and was runnin lean , now after the pc c 3 and dino it's running rich like 30 mph no popping and I really like the sound of the thunderheaders when I crank on and turn loose of the throttle.
