Has anybody had any luck buying a base map for SERT?
I see on the protwin website you can buy a base map for $100. You just enter all the details possible about your bike and they send you a base map. I can do all my own work on my bike but efi tuning and computer stuff is not for me. Do you think one of these base maps would be accurate enough to get me rolling and then maybe I could play around with it later on?
the base maps are "general" in every sense of the word but to answer your question, it should give you a good starting point to allow you to "dial-in" the settings as you get the opportunity. of course I'm sure you don't want to hear this but I'll say it anyway.. Find a good tuner and pay a few bucks for an hour on the dyno.. you won't be sorry.. emphasis on the word GOOD
I also might get my friend to give me some help, he has never even ridden a bike but he is a mechanical engineer and is very smart. He built a bmw turbo with a stand alone fuel injection system and did all his own tuning so a sert program should be a walk in the park for him!
I bought a map from Kevin for my build, he send me a good map, my MPG drop a bit i send Kevin an email he tweek the map a bit and now i go around 38/40 mpg and no pinging my spark plug have a nice color and no extra heat from the motor.
In my case the map work very fine for me
