Default How to adjust Throttle Position Sensor

On a 2001 Ultra Classic

I just replaced my Cam Timing Sensor and Throttle Position Sensor and I am still getting a code of Throttle Position Sensor. Is there a way to adjust it or check the voltage with having a "breakout box"?

Before replacing sensors, bike was hard to start and idling low, and I was getting a code of Crankshaft timing sensor (cam timing sensor). The bike starts fine now, but still have the low idling issues and got the code of Throttle Position Sensor.

You might try cleaning the IAC. Did you clear the code? It could be an old code.

How do I clear the code and I haven't tried cleaning the IAC. I will do that, but how do I clear the code?

the easiest way for me to tell you is to do a search here on the forums. Basically turn your run kill switch on, hold the odometer trip set button in while turning on the ignition and go through all the banks. I assume you know how to do this since you are reading the code for the tps. Just hold the odometer button in while the code is pulled up to clear the code.

M/M speedometer button will only show speedometer codes.

Take it to a dealer to clear the codes or wait until after fifty starts and if it is a historic code it will clear.

Is the check engine light always on or just for a few seconds? Always on is a hard code and briefly on is an historical code.

Does it idle low at start up only? When warm does it idle around 950 - 1500 rpm?

There are two set screws to control idle. One is for cold idle and one is for hot idle.

For now clear the idle memory and star over again. Remove the 15amp and the 5amp fuse under the right side cover for around 15 min. to reset the idle. If that doesn't work you will have to adjust the the hot and cold idle.

Thanks for the info on the hard and historic code. It must be a historic code. It only stays on briefly and then goes away. I was just confused because it showed the crankshaft positioning sensor before I replace the CPS and now it shows the TPS which I replaced as well.

It starts up fine and idles good, but then after I blip the throttle it goes below 1000 rpms and eventually dies.

I only know of the one spot to change the idle and its the one that is towards the bottom right of the air cleaner backplate.

Found the cold idle adjuster. I gonna try and play with it in the morning and remove the fuses like you suggested.

Get yourself a #10 torx long screw driver. Remove air box and rotate the throttle until the cold set screw comes up. I suggest you turn it in 1/4 turn for starters.
