Default Cam position sensor bypass

I have a 1999 Electra glide. I am replacing the stock cam tensioner, oil pump with hydraulic tensioner set up. Can I bypass the cam position sensor, as the new set up has no place for the sensor to read.

Default

I talked to the local shop, and they told me that they have heard of it being done before with no problem, as long as the bike is carburated
I was hoping for a second opinion
