Default RIP Pat Connelly

Retired Marine, motorcyclist, racer, rider, good friend, riding buddy.

We raced SRA (Sportsman Racing Assoc.) back in the early 1980's. We raced District #38 out in Plaster City in 1981-2-3. He rode Maico 490 (look it up.) I rode YZ 465's. We rode street a few times from 1980's to last May. He sold all his bikes, his Z car too. His wife (Deb) is now on a new course without her man. Rode with his sons. Taught his grandsons how to ride. Then REALLY taught them how to ride without the chains of the MSF over my shoulders. They became quite good riders, especially in the dirt.
God speed, Pat.

Service is 02NOV2018
MCAS Miramar Ca.

MS got him.

Attended the service at Miramar cemetery.

As Taps was being played, we had about 6 or 8 F-18 Hornets depart Miramar. We were right under the runway about 1000' West of the runway. (They take off West bound 90% of the time.)

21 gun salute to a Marine.

Sorry, no pics.

Very well attended. Maybe a couple hundred people there. Me & my GF were the only ones that rode. Cages for everyone else.

Then rode North to VFW 365 @ Vista Ca. for reception. I know I've told you all of some of the experiences that Pat & I have had. Riding, racing, roosting each other, over the years. He was single when I met him, he found his current wife of 6 years while square dancing at a local country venue. She had no idea that Pat & I had the history we do. I told her, "I'm proud to call Pat, my friend." She was floored. I saw many guys that I used to ride with in the past. (Like in the late 1970's/early 1980's.) Some hadn't changed much, some were hard to recognize. Anyway, that's when I discovered Pat was a wealthy man. All these people from motorcycling, Indycar, Midgets, his car club were there. Along with 3 kids, 9 grandkids, 7 great grand kids.

Indiana lost a hell of a hoosier.

So long, friend....
