Default 1980 sportster rebuild

I picked up a 1980 sportster for 1000 over the summer. I had no time to work on it. It was a running bike but was making a lot of motor noise. I finally have it torn down it needs pistons to be bored another .020 over which puts me at .060 os. It does have and s&s short e carb dyna ignition y grind cams and a Barnett cluch. I'll be posting pics as I go

I am not an expert on diagnosing from pistons, but i do believe that that vertical scraping is from overheating or lack of oil, caused possibly by idling a cold engine for extended time.

Cold engine: start, run at idle for a short time, ride off carefully, keep it running using the throttle at stops etc, ride "normally" when it will idle on its own at 950+ RPM.
