1982 xlh rear master cylinder mount
Currently restoring an 82 xlh 1000. This is my first major rebuild and I've got a couple questions about the rear brake. The master cylinder is currently on the bike with the brake line connected to it, but it isn't mounted on its just hanging there. The sprocket cover is also not currently mounted and im confused about what i need to get those on. I've got the foot lever, but im super confused on how all this goes together and what else i need to make the master cylinder functional. Ive looked at some schematics but i still can't make out what i need to get. any information is helpful!

Here's some pics from my 1980. May be mostly the same ...
If you do not have an original rear exhaust you may have to make one of these. The OEM exhaust had this as part of the exhaust - it has no part number. Cycle Shack used to sell them. I think they went out of business a few years ago ? I am not certain. Might try J&P Cycles, and other suppliers ...

In 83XLX's pic note the part in the crook of the brake pedal that is welded onto the rear exhaust pipe. That is the part that my home made part replaces. It has an adjustment bolt to control the height of the brake pedal. Without it the pedal pops up almost vertical.
My part uses it's larger hole to attach to the same stud as the foot peg and brake pedal, and serves the same purpose.
