Default Clutch Question

1970 XLH:
Can the sprocket cover just be popped off without much fanfare. In the manual under replacing the clutch cable, it appears this may be so but thought I would check. Would make it much easier to install a new chain. Haven't needed to mess with the cable much but did install new plates. Still learning this bike.....

its easier being electric start only like you have , loosen the clutch nut and screw remove the 2 bolts pull it off the standoffs and turn counterclockwise in hook the cable T - the outer has a slot on the cam cover pull from the front

clean everyone and re install - make sure you lube the cable with the tool so its all wet

Thanks John, I'll loosen the nut and screw but will keep track of turns as the adjustment on the clutch is perfect. It ain't like the knuck, can't really just feed the new chain through. If I had known that I would have hooked the new to the old............oh well, next time. Haven't been on here much, how's things in the shop?

That's quite a to do list. Wow, a '41 knuck, don't see too many around these days, lots of later ones. Guys that work on the old iron are becoming pretty rare, probably why you are so busy. Good to hear you got lots on your plate!!
