All the original gauges are gone off my 1983 Sportster XLX. I've shopped on J&P to try to find a speedo and cable to fit. Not of the specifically say that they'll fit my bike. I'm not too concerned about the tach, but a speedo would be nice. Any suggestions on which one will fit? Thanks a bunch.

Just about any mechanical speedometer that will run off the speedo drive in the front wheel will work. There is something about 1:1 or 2:1 which i do not know about so you will need to search that out. Do not get anything electronic, or anything designed to run off the transmission.

You can usually find OEM NOS or re-pops of the originals or used originals on eBay. Matching sets of tach and speedo. J&P part numbers for the re-pops speedo=5600125 and tach=5600259.
