74 sportster front brake
Floating front brake, 74 and 75 I believe had this.. single sided front disk brake.
The floating calliper is bouncing. The only way to quite it is to apply the brake, very annoying when accelerating and just sitting at the stop light listening to the metal on metal bouncing.. is there any way to quite this?.. short of rapping a bungee cord around it

I am not familiar with that one. With other old calipers you replace the bushings in the forks that are for the mounting bolts; and replace the pad pins.
Replacing the bushings is done by simply tapping the old ones out and tapping new ones in. The old ones get wrecked more on the way out. Put the new ones in the freezer for a few hours and coat them with grease before tapping them in - preferably with a proper bushing install tool.
The solid steel pins that the pads move on can get worn. Easy replacement.
You can get the part numbers from the parts catalog 99451-78B, and order from any of the usual sources. Not a big expense.
