I have decided to pull the carb, clean it and rebuild it. The carb is marked "Zenith USA" on the side and it is also referred to as the Bendix carb. After doing some research, I saw that Bendix carbs were OEM during the mid to late seventies. My bike is a '81 and the corresponding service manual and parts catalog covers the years from 1979 through 1985. Does anyone know if the Bendix carb will be covered in this manual? I'm thinking it may detail the Keihin carb which came after the Bedix. If someone has these references, could you check and let me know. Thanks.

 

The Bendix/Zenith is not in the 79-85 manuals. It is in the 54-78 parts catalog and the 70-78 service manual.

Do a Google search for bendix carburetor tuning and bendix carburetor parts and see what turns up. You may turn up some factory info sheets.

 

my bike is built from different models (FL and CH) and from different years.
I built it from the Clymer manual which is available from most auto part stores (I built it before there was internet and all the info available out here in it). It covers 57-85. It isn't the FSM but it does have something about everything and costs less.
