Im hitting a flat spot at 3000 rpm in 1st and 2nd gear. Won't accelerate and kinda chugs. Any idea?

 

is it a carb issue? I have the original AMF push pull carb

 

If you are running drag pipes with no baffles, and if it runs normally past 3000 RPM, then this is normal behavior.

If it picks up again after pausing with the throttle released it may be that the fuel level in the carb is too low and it simply runs out.
