Default 78 ironhead

Fired up the ironhead yesterday morning for nice ride to work. On the way home I noticed going through the gears every time I got to the top end of the each gears the power would drop out even in fifth the power would drop out when I go half throttle. I have a super B carburetor on it that has been giving me problems I have a rebuild kit on its way to fix it. I checked impression today and it was 110-115 psi the book says it should be at120 psi . At what point should I think about replacing rings? Would love to get some feedback and ideas on what I should do. Thanks guys

The compression test, to get accurate results, must be done with both the engine at full operating temperature [immediately after a long, out of city traffic ride] and with the throttle held wide open. If either if these is omitted then the results will be low.

What happens when the power drops out? does it sputter? fade out? whatever?

What ignition is in the bike? points? electronic? if electronic which brand? If you do not know remove the ignition cover [4" round on the cam cover] and post a pic of what is in there.

It has points and when the power drops out I guess you would say fades.

How about the compression test - full op temp? throttle wide open using the grip? both of these? Neither?
