LiveWire who’s buying one? Or, was going to buy one?

When I see people saying they can buy something completely different for the same money, like an electric car instead (and look like a complete putz in a leaf) then they really didn't want a bike. I can have my roof re-shingled, partially restore a muscle car or go buy a red sub meters first rolex for the same money but so what. I wont get the same pleasure from those things that I will from a motorcycle. If I want an electric harley then thats what I want.

Lets’s see. The Livewire costs $30K. Has a 70mile highway range with a full charge. Takes an hour on a high voltage Fast charger to get an 80% “full tank”.
That’s a recipe to join the ranks of Sears, JC Penney, GE, Xerox, Kodak, Maytag, Ford. All American Icons that failed to delivery quality products that their customers actually WANT and slowly whimpered into irrelevancy.
HD sales are about to plummet 13.5% for 2018 according to Barron’s and the Livewire will only contribute to that slide. R&D funds that could have been far better spent on delivering quality products that their customers would actually buy.

Holy ****. That's going to be amazing. 150 mph and 150 mile range for $13K?!? Wow!
They know what they're doing. Their current high end bike holds the world speed record for an electric motorcycle at 218 mph.
Even worse for the Livewire, Zero has announced a brand new model to be unveiled next month. Can't wait to see the details.

Didn't hear about the new Zero model. I'm guessing this isn't going to turn out well for Harley. I don't know why anyone would spend twice the amount on a Livewire when they could purchase one of these other bikes. I'm a Harley guy and have been for many years but couldn't see my self spending twice as much for the same bike.

Yeah, I don't think it's going to turn out well for Harley either. Two new competitors, better specs, better performance, lower price, and, if you're a "millennial", not a Harley.

Yep, I was enthusiastic until they unveiled the price tag. They may sell a few collector bikes but I think the ridiculous price will determine be the beginning of the end for the electric Harley. Zero who has been building electric bikes for the past decade is by comparison 10K less. I get 45mpg on my SGS and filling up doesn't put anywhere near the dent my wallet that a LiveWire will. Besides, just the sound of a good ol American Harley will never be compromised. When the answer to corporate survival becomes part of the price tag, it's all but over.
