Competition like this is going to make Harley's bike a hard sell to millennials.
Hubless rear wheel, 236 ft lbs of torque, 126-184 mile range and $28,000 price (in Europe)

Yeah, I think someone here said the live wire was pretty much dead in the water even before it went into mainstream production.

I think there’s a lot of interest in Harley’s E bike but not enough to pony up that kinda dough.

Harley's not trying to sell the LiveWire to Millennials.

For Millennials, they're offering products like these, which will be priced at "just a few thousand":

Note that they were shown at the X-Games, a more Millennial-appropriate venue.

Livewire appeals to the under 30 motorcyclist but comes delivered at a price only the 40 and over can afford. (Lose!)

Im sure their going to sell a few , but not in the volumes they need to recover their “ cough cough “ R&D costs of where to put the batteries, handle bars, wheels and stuff.

It must be a real shock to HD’s ego that quite a few of their new products suck and are grossly over priced.

Good luck selling the flashlight with wheels.

I'm waiting for the Quantum Particle (mini-black hole) model. Price will be similar, if not less.

(As always for everything, I'll wait a few model years to buy a Live Wire....is a good thing, that electricity stuff)

That looks like crap, I’d rather have a 50cc gas powered scooter.

Would it be safe to assume that you are not in the Millennial target market?

Because I don't think any reasonably-thinking person would actually want a 50cc scooter...

In any case, those they showed it to seemed to like it.

The way I see it, LW is a halo product, while HD builts out a cheaper electric bike portfolio. I really don't envy their predicament right now, they are the victim of their own success with the core market, as we all age out...I'm not tied to one brand or even one type of bike, as I still go to the track on a sportbike in my late 40s, but I always have to have a Harley in my garage. They are special, and I hope in 5-10-15 years, there will be a killer electric bike that recaptures that spirit.

You are really not the target audience, so why not let the new generations decide. Putting down everything that's not an air-cooled V-Twin has been as much to blame for HDs decline as their own success. Just look at the V-Rod, and the potential for new buyers was squandered because of the reception by the core HD crowd.
