What about Arizona? Might not have a beach but they do have Lake Havasu. The Bagger/bike scene is pretty prevelant down there too. I spent a weekend down in Tempe and absolutely loved it! Been wanting to move there ever since.....
Yeah Arizona is nice. I worked two years in Tucson. The only good ride I can think of there is up to Mount Lemmon and back. Soon as the Sun goes down it gets really cool, better have your jacket. Lake Havasu is rocking in the Summertime. Not enough lakes in AZ though.
I am retiring and want to live somewhere warmer and cheaper than Michigan. I don't care if it is in a trailer or a shotgun shack. I want to be somewhere where I can ride year round, have biker bars nearby and preferably a beach. Ideas?
How about a few more preferences? Do you want gun-friendly or is that irrelevant? I understand you want "warmer", but do you also want some semblance of a northern autumn (i.e., leaves changing, cooler evenings, an occasional "Indian summer", etc.)? While I agree with those that have already suggested southern California for climate, I'd rule that out if you have any desire for CCW and/or if "cheaper" is not that high of a requirement [unless you go way inland].
When you factor rain and temperature stability, it's going to be SoCal area. Between San Diego and Long Beach. Maybe as far inland as San Bernadino or Riverside to boot.
That part of the country is only temporary, I think he's thinking long term.
I have been starting my research too. Probably about 10 years away still, but I can start to dream. I'm thinking the Carolinas or northern Georgia areas, probably a half hour to a hour or so inland to get away from some of the higher property costs but still an easy ride to beach.
Not directed at you; in fact, confirming your observation ["crickets"]. The OP asks for advice in June and, from his lack of followup, appears to simply vanish thereafter. Hence [to the OP] "why ask the question if you don't give a s**t what the answer is?"
