    Ya the black box was the stock ign. brain , you don't need it if you have the Dyna S they are about as simple as it gets . Go to the Dyna web site and they have the instruction sheets for down load , the static timing setup is real easy and you don't need to do the timing light and oil blowing all over he place gig . Stick with the OEM manual it's more complicated maybe but it does give details on stuff the Clymers doesn't and you'll run into that sooner or later .

    The wiring looks much more complicated that it really is , I know that sounds like bull but it's just a matter of getting your head around it . There's been a couple of simple clean diagrams posted already use one as a guideline you'll do ok . Good luck man Send a PM with questions if need be I'll help where I can .

    finally sombody that understood my question .thank you very much u solved it! i am to assume that the "little black box" came with the basket cause maybe it was for the stock ignition.the WHOLE bike was in peices when i got it. just finished the refurb only thing lleft is exhaust and wiring. p.s. the black box is an ignition module,i guess thats for a distributor? .the harley bible is not very detailed. i think clymber is the best. im going for one when i get bills caught up
