I have the Stage 3 with the Harley High Flow exhaust, Pro Street Tuner and the Smart Tune module and the bike runs good but I know I've given up some performance using all H-D parts but I also bought the extended warranty and had everything done within the first 60 days.
What I don't understand with your situation is when you change the header pipe you are most likely voiding your warranty so why would you not go with an after market tuner that is not EPA restricted? Then you most likely WOULD be closer to riding a beast.

The Breakout was going to cost a small fortune to mod it out the way i wanted, and i was stuck not being able to do what i wanted until the warranty ran out. The LRS only needs a change of bars and putting the mid controls back on and it will be the way i want it, other than a few small things.
The LRS only has 1300 miles on the clock, so it's barely run in. It has the Stage 1 kit, so i'm not giving up much power compared to the 114. It's going to be more fun through the twisties, not that i have a problem with the Breakout handling until things get really tight. It has a bigger fuel tank, the 3.5 gal on the Breakout was getting annoying on longer trips. And it sounds how i think a Harley should. The M8 can be made to sound very good, but it still ain't quite there.
Financially it makes a lot of sense. The LRS is a very desiarble, 2 year model run and last of the Dynas, so i think it will hold it's value better than the Breakout. It's going to cost me a lot less to get it the way i want. Means more money for fuel and trips away. And i've saved myself the 5000 mile sevice cost on the Breakout.
But the main reason is because i fell in love with it the second i saw it. The LRS is the most beautiful bike Harley have made, in my opinion.
All this is not to say i don't like the Breakout. It's a fantastic bike and i've had a huge amount of fun with it. The M8 114 is a monster of an engine, other than sound Harley did an amazing job with this. The ride quality and handling are excellent. I still think the new Softails are the best bikes Harley have ever made, but better is not always what you want.
