Who's got a new M8 and had no problems
#11
I'm not flaming the OP at all but it's actually pathetic that one would think it's necessary to start such a thread. What a great tool the internet is. It's like the news, you never hear the good stuff. A couple guys have an issue with a new bike that is all covered by warranty and the Sky is Falling. Went thru this crap when the Rushmores were released in 2013 and here we go again. 1370 TROUBLE FREE MILES on mine like 99% of the other guys that bought a '17, but some only seem to hear the 1% of problem cases. go figure.

Chicken Little
Its sad that a few delight in posting any comment they can find that is a negative about the bike. But as I checked some of these people posts I see a trend of MOCO bashing. I for one was excited to see a new motor and upgrades in suspension. I have been leaning towards a Road Glide and after riding a 16 and 17 I knew I wanted the new 17, sixteen also a great bike. Saw the negative posts but still will pick up my new Road Glide Ultra tomorrow and won't look back. As stated we ran this whole chicken little scenario when the Rushmore's first came out. Still waiting for the thousands of bikes on the side of the road with the coolant blown out...

I bought my first HD in 2005 after logging a couple of hundred thousand miles on cheap imports. I only rode it a few years and only 25,000 miles before I realized my wife liked riding with me so much I traded up to a 2008 FLHX. I joined the forum just after I bought the SG. I absolutely freaked out about all I was reading about how bad the 2008 models were.
I was freaking about the tbw, frame problems, fuel filter canister and everything else the forum was telling me my new bike was a pos.
If I had joined the forums before buying my 2008 FLHX, there is no way in hell I would've bought it.
Since then I have logged a little over 60,000 miles of the best, most trouble free riding of my life.
We only hear the occasional bad things that happen from pissed off posters. which are usually the exception instead of the rule.
I am thankful I bought what many on this forum considered a pos 2008 FLHX. She has been better to me than I have been to her and I believe she will last me longer than I will be able to ride.

I don't think he thought it necessary, just helpful. If it helps you feel better, consider this an effort for trying to get the word out.
What's truly pathetic is the absence of good news and potential for disproportionate reporting. Many of us are weary of hearing about problems. Consider this creating a forum (if you will) for good news.
Have some fun with it, Cats. Whaddya love about your M8?

Negative comments regarding new vehicles happen on forums more than just this one. It happens with all new or redesigned drivetrains, been there done that.
Bitchy little girly owners that are unhappy with minor stuff and want to demand a new bike every time something doesn't go their way.
Tire out of balance= Gimme a new bike
Lights bulb is out= new bike AND some chrome accessories for their troubles...
Oil leak (which is usually one in a thousand engines or less) = New bike with chrome accessories, free gas for 10 years and company stock.
Truth is, all vehicles and all new power trains will have quirks and kinks to iron. As much as I don't need a new bike, I would buy a M8 in a heart beat if I were on the market for a new bike.
Buy your RK with confidence and enjoy it.
I will say tho, Harley Davidsons have become like an iPhone, your purchase will make you happy for a year, maybe two... then the new shiny model comes out bigger, better, and more powerful, leaving your 1 1/2 year old bike as an obsolete, slow, shaky and unwanted pos that no one likes anymore.
Unless you are like me, and keep your vehicles (and phones) for as long as they fulfill YOUR needs as opposed to wanting to have the latest and greatest, which seems to be the name of the game these days...
Best of luck and happy hunting!!!
