I didn't have any idea on how there assembled, order, sequence. And not trying to start another batwing, fugly battle. My 10 RG had nothing but problems, they installed new cases due to a bearing sliding, new fly wheel, three compensators, clutch, abs completely replaced and some other crap I am forgetting. Every trip I toke something had to be fixed. I was lucky it never left me afoot. It's just an observation. So far with 1,500 miles on the M8 things are good. Waiting for someone to make a air cleaner that I like. And waiting for the warranty to expire so I can build the dam thing. Only 23 more months.

Get you some slip ons and use the Screaming Eagle breather and tuner if your worried about the warranty and ride the **** out of it for 23 months.

All touring bikes, trikes, and softail are built on the same assembly line at the same time one after the other. It's an impressive operation. They don't put out a batch of street glides, then a batch of trikes, then a batch of sharks.

the motors on all touring models are EXACTLY the same depending on build, 107, 114, 114 wethead. Not sure I can agree with what you are saying here at all.

Really? I had no idea that all the motors were exactly the same!? Boy am I ever embarrassed.

Did the sarcasm come through on that one?

The motors are not exactly the same either.

Besides [Engine] "size" there is a difference in the oil pump depending on oil or water cooling. [the oil cooled engines have larger oil pumps]
The oil pump looks like that's the weak link so far - it fails and most are getting new engines.

I have not actually counted, but I think I've heard that more oil pumps from the oil cooled motors are failing. I might have it backwards.
